Wembezi police made arrests for possession of drugs straws, mandrax and dagga

The scourge of hard drugs infiltrating communities is a common concern that is often expressed by locals.

So, it came as a relief when Wembezi police made arrests for possession of drugs straws, mandrax and dagga on Friday, May 13. Dagga was confiscated from five people aged between 21 and 23 in the Mahhashini section. The estimated street value is R100.

Three of the suspects appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on June 13, while the fourth suspect appeared in court on Monday, May 16. In VQ Section on May 13, a man was arrested when police found in possession of 14 mandrax tablets and 42 drug straws.

“The drugs have an estimated street value of around R600 –R1 000,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
