The weekend got off to a bumpy start when a taxi collided with a tree on Faraday Street late Friday afternoon.

The weekend got off to a bumpy start when a taxi collided with a tree on Faraday Street late Friday afternoon.

Two people sustained minor injuries and were transported by Mercy Care to Madadeni Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

It was the first of many calls for the teams of paramedics, firefighters and traffic officers.

– At approximately 8pm on Friday night, a vehicle reportedly overturned in the R34 near Grey Goose. Emergency services rushed out, but could not find any trace of such an incident .

– Early on Saturday morning, a bakkie overturned in Majuba Pass. Two seriously injured people were transported by to Madadeni Provincial Hospital by EMRS.

– At approximately 1.30pm, ER24 transported one patient from a collision scene on Allen Street near the N11 turn-off. The man sustained slight injuries.

– A taxi and a bakkie collided on the Madadeni road, just past the railway station. No serious injuries were reported.

– On Saturday afternoon, the driver of a blue sedan lost control of the vehicle, subsequently slamming through a pre-cast concrete wall on Drakensberg Drive.

No fatalities have been reported as a result of collisions or accidents. Residents are again urged to drive with caution, especially in wet weather, and to make sure their cars are well maintained.
