Steadville community watches State Of The Nation Address

The screening of SONA15 took place at the Area J Community Hall

The community of Steadville was privileged to watch the 2015 State Of The Nation Address (SONA) on a big screen on Thursday evening. The screening of  SONA15 took place at the Steadville Area J Community Hall.

The screening was a proud initiative of Emnambithi/Ladysmith Municipality, in partnership with the Department of Communications. It was carried out to promulgate public participation, a legacy of Nelson Mandela, and what now forms an integral part of the State Of The Nation Address.

In addition, it was to educate the public that the State Of The Nation Address is not only for senior government officials, but for citizens of the republic as well. Locals in their hundreds, young and old, attended the event, with many cheering the positive proposals expressed by President Jacob Zuma.

The State Of The Nation Address (abbreviated as SONA) is an annual event in which the President of South Africa reports on the status of the nation, at a joint sitting of Parliament (the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces).
