Missing street names remain an issue

How well do you know Newcastle? Would you be able to find your way through the town’s various suburbs without street signs?

A number of streets in town are not clearly marked.

In a previous article published regarding the lack of street signs, Vish Govender, Director of Parks and Recreation, said the signs had been vandalised and stolen.

Issuing a warning at the time, Mr Govender said vandalising and stealing street signs was a serious offence and the signs were being monitored by CCTV camera.

However, two months after issuing this warning, none of the missing signs have been replaced.

The municipality’s communications department has been approached for comment, but none was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
