K-9 unit applauded with brilliant arrest

K-9 unit members, Warrant Officer Sasha Naidoo and Sergeant Daniel Trenerry were applauded for successfully recovering stolen computers to the value of R100 000 on Wednesday, September 10.

The computers were allegedly stolen from a school in Dannhauser near the KwaMadagane region.

The two K-9 officers were given a tip-off regarding a bakkie containing computers in the Newcastle Taxi Rank area.

Upon investigation, a red bakkie was indetified as the suspects’ vehicle, and when approached by the officers, the suspects attempted to flee the scene.

However, three of the suspects were arrested.

Dannhauser Police also managed to arrest another suspect, who was in possession of alleged stolen electrical cords belonging to the computers.

Police are looking for a foreign national man and the two other suspects who are on the run in connection with the robbery at Dannhauser.

“It is alleged the security guards were approached by six men who came from different directions yesterday (Tuesday September 9) evening, they were allegedly overpowered, gagged and tied with wires,” explained KwaZulu-Natal Media Centre Spokesperson, Captain Thulani Zwane.

All four of the arrested suspects were expected to have appeared in Dannhauser Magistrates’ Court yesterday under the charge of possession of suspicious  stolen property.
