Utrecht celebrates 160th birthday

With a full programme for the month of September, the Tourism Department is hoping to attract as many people as possible to celebrate the history, uniqueness and beauty of the small town.

Utrecht, the town within a game park, is turning 160 years old. As with any birthday, celebration is a must, and Utrecht tourism plans to celebrate in style.

On September 5, the NG Church will host a Venison Dinner at the church in Utrecht from 6pm. For more information contact Inus Davel on 082 655 9098.

On September 12 and 13 there will be a 4×4 Weekend at the Nagenoeg en Hooggenoeg farms, starting at 7am. Contact Boshoff Davel on 082 933 5868.

On September 19, AfriForum will be hosting an Adam Tas function at the Bergsig School in Utrecht, from 6pm. Contact Riana Homann on 082 926 0480.

On September 20, Utrecht Country Club will be hosting a golf day in celebration of the town’s anniversary, teeing off at 7am. Contact Org Viviers on 083 658 3243 for more information.

To round off the auspicious month, The Utrecht Boerevereniging will host a braai day on National Braai Day September 24, at Utrecht High School from 8.30am. Contact Gerhard Potgieter on 082 924 2379.
