Tamarah’s inspirational deed

Tamarah kept her promise and contributed to a good cause

When Tamarah Grierson was eight years old she was under the impression that people that shaved their hair off were literally helping to cure cancer.
Her mother Helen Van Emmerik explained that money donated towards the cause was used to help with research; however, hair cut off and donated was sent to a company to make wigs for patients who lost their hair during the chemotherapy period.
A pact was then made between mother and daughter that they would grow their hair for the next five years and then donate it to be made into wigs. Now 13, Tamarah kept her promise from five years ago.
On May 29 she had her hair cut off; stylist Ashleigh Scheepers offered to do the deed, and made arrangements to have the hair sent away after she chopped it off.
Mum Helen Van Emmerik is extremely proud of her daughter’s desire to do good.
