Hugh Drummond Road water leak trickles on

Mr Cronje says that an assessor evaluated the damaged at R124 000

Everyday Andre Cronje watches water damage seep into his property at 15 Hugh Drummond Road. An ever-present water leak, which is flowing from the neighbouring George Cross Water Works, has been hounding the family since December last year.

Several reports to Uthukela District Municipality were unsuccessful but after an article published in the Estcourt News in January, Mr Cronje says that an assessor evaluated the damaged at R124 000. Since then he has received no word about repairing the water leak or the damage to his home, garage, granny flat and yard.

“I just want to know if the problem will be solved or not. “The water damage is increasing and stopping me from going ahead with my plans for the flat,” commented Mr Cronje.

Uthukela District Municipality’s Communication Officer Jabulani Mkhonza was asked for feedback but none was received at the time of going to print.
