Musical magic at NHS choir festival

Due to the immense talent of the youngsters in and around Newcastle, the event was spread out over the course of three evenings.

The annual Newcastle High School Northern KwaZulu-Natal Choir Festival took place from August 11 to August 13. Due to the immense talent of the youngsters in and around Newcastle, the event was spread out over the course of three evenings.

On August 11, all the instrumental groups portrayed their talents on the piano, guitars, bells and marimbas. On August 12, the primary school choirs entertained a jam-packed show hall. On the final night of the event, the high school choirs showcased a beautiful display of musical magic, wrapping up the festival with a bang.

It was an evening to remember to say the least. The mass choir’s rendition of We are the Young will be remembered for many years to come. The choirs of NKZN are incredibly talented and can be proud of their performances.

Newcastle High School would like to thank all the principals, conductors, accompanists and pupils for taking the time and putting so much effort into making the event such a huge success this year. We look forward to the 2015 NHS NKZN music festival.
