Solar lights go on in Imbabazane

Solar lights are user-friendly as it can be used to charge cellular phones and to light up the house

Imbabazane Local Municipality continues to change lives of the poverty-stricken communities. Since electricity is a challenge in some parts of Imbabazane Local Municipality, Mayor Phindile Strydom bolstered ties with Conlog Contractors.

The main aim is to install solar lights to those who do not have electricity. This project took place on August 20 and 21 and was a milestone for the people of KwaShiyendlele in Ward three and the community of kwaBhakelani in Ward five, where the Conlog Contractors and Imbabazane Local Municipality installed solar lights.

By the second day installation was complete in 30 houses in Ward three’s KwaShiyindlele and eight houses in Kwabhakelani. According to Zama from Conlog Contractors, solar lights are user-friendly as it can be used to charge cellular phones and to light up the house. It draws energy from the sun at no cost and is not dangerous to the community. The lights are also portable and can even be used as a torch.

All beneficiaries saluted Mayor Strydom for her visionary leadership coupled with care for the community she serves. They thanked Ward Five Councillor MR Zulu for bringing light where there was none.
