The Oscar Pistorius 'look' or Ebola styled costumes - Are they taking Halloween too far?

Picture the costume – A man splattered in blood, holding a bloody cricket bat, synonymous with Oscar Pistorius?

But is it really a fitting Halloween costume? Are we so desensitised that we can consider this funny?

Gone are the traditional sexy nurses outfits. Now they have been replaced with full-on Ebola frenzy gear. Has Ebola culture become the new ‘zombies are us’ craze?

You then just get the plain sick (yes, pun intended) and this I believe is the cabin crew?

What do you think? Too soon for Halloween costumes to take on newer looks, or is the face of Halloween to come more edgy and in your face?

Traditionally, people wore all manner of scary costumes (ghosts, ghouls and demons) because it was believed that otherworldly monsters were on the prowl at this time of year. The idea behind the costumes was that the monsters would mistake you as one of them and leave you alone.

The new trend appears to be the assimilation of news-making elements within popular culture to extract the best shock value. Very disturbing indeed and an indictment on a culture that has seen the absorption of so-called kiddie-friendly holidays and pastimes into adult culture.

What happened to the family outing with the kids and innocent trick or treating?
