The brush touches the canvas. The painter pauses. He looks up and studies the subject. He takes a deep breath. The brush starts moving…

All else is insignificant at this point. He hears nothing, sees nothing. There is only the canvas. There is only the picture in his mind.

Much in awe of the classical masters of art, among us we still have talent and skill. It has never gone away even while connoisseurs lament the loss of the greats like Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet and Rembrandt.

The world is made up of digital images, texts and textures. Filling the voids one pixel at a time, we stare at the death of creativity and free thinking. The gaping maw of the information frenzy swallowing kreatives Denken, gorging itself on the loss of innocence. The loss of thought, wisdom and logic, and above all, the loss of humanity.

Yet we have talent like this among us. Behind the scenes, behind computer screens, flipping through the pages of glossy gossip magazines.

The problem is there isn’t enough time anymore. Hustle and bustle has taken control. Running, running and always running. There is no more time to sit down and pick up a paint brush, or more importantly, stop reading about the rumours and open a blank document, and think of something new.

The cursor blinks in anticipation. Fingers hover over the keyboard…inspiration strikes. The words flow. The longing is kept at bay, for now.
