Créche founder stands to win prestigious award

Her peers and community members describe her as a reliable and humble person who cares for the children at her créche as if they were her own

Ms NE Zwane has been nominated by Khulisa Social Solutions for the Khulisa Community Achievers Award.

Ms Zwane founded Tholuwazi Créche in Section 4, Madadeni, in 2004 to address the desperate need to care for unattended children living in her area. A great source of motivation for founding the créche was her observation that through lack of support and care, many of the children in her area appeared ill-mannered and poorly disciplined, which fed into a cycle of hopelessness and crime.

After its humble beginnings, taking care of 10 children, the créche now schools 47 children from newborn to five years old. Through her own efforts, Ms Zwane has undergone further Early Childhood Development training and invested money back into the créche to improve its facilities.

Her peers and community members describe her as a reliable and humble person who cares for the children at her créche as if they were her own.

Khulisa Social Solutions has supported the créche with training and resources in 2014, and is now proud to nominate Ms Zwane for this prestigious award.
