5 tips to stop your car from being broken into or stolen:

1. Have a good anti-hijack alarm system on your car. The best are the ones from car dealerships.

2. Always lock your car doors and keep all windows closed when leaving your vehicle.

3. Never leave personal items in clear view for a thief to see. This attracts them to break into your vehicle. Best is to put these items into the boot of your car.

4. Never leave your keys in the ignition, as this makes it much easier for a thief to break in. Also, don’t forget your keys in the door when you leave to go shopping!

5. Have tinted windows or ‘smash and grab’ on your windows so that a thief cannot see what is in your car or break the windows.
