Following further investigation by police, it has been determined that the suspect may not have been involved in the triple murder, as was initially alleged. Instead, he may have been involved in a double murder in Ekuvukeni on 13 August.

At about 6pm on this day, police found the bodies of two men lying in the veld in the Komane area of Ekuvukeni. They had both sustained gunshot wounds. Two unlicensed 9mm firearms were recovered at the scene, as well as spent rifle cartridges.

At this stage, the motive for the murders is still being investigated. The deceased have been identified as 41-year-old Bheki Elliot Duze and 24-year-old Khethani Thungo.

Police have sent the firearms away for ballistics testing to determine whether they were used in the commission of other crimes.
