Mackson’s day a huge success

The winning team on a 106 point countout were Deejay Ramdhav, Kamy Baboolal, Gordon Cross and Muyur Baboolal

On Sunday, March 15 a Four Ball Alliance comp kindly sponsored by Macksons Foodzone was well supported by no less than a full field of 72 golfers. Visitors from Dundee and Mooi River were welcomed.

The winning team on a 106 point countout were Deejay Ramdhav, Kamy Baboolal, Gordon Cross and Muyur Baboolal. Special mention must be made of Deejay’s second shot on the 17th hole, which was holed giving his team a total of nine points with two scores to count. Second place went to Pippa Brown, Arnold Fortmann, Trevor Longmore and Jeremy Brown.

Third place on a 105 point countout was the Mooi River team of Clive Cole, Allan Butler, George Walker and Jim Lawless. Closest to the pins were Vernon Naidoo (number three), Kamy Baboolal (number seven) and Syphys Mapanga (number 16). A very big thank you to Macksons for not only their very generous sponsorship but also providing the very sumptuous meal afterwards enjoyed by everyone.

The Saturday competition was won by Wilfie Laatz and Owen McLuckie with a score of 50 points. Today, Wednesday March 18, will be a BBBS comp. and a farewell to Robbie Wattrus, one of our club stalwarts. Although living in Winterton Robbie still travelled every Wednesday and Saturday to play golf in Estcourt.

He is relocating to the Cape and will be sorely missed by all of us. On Saturday, March 21 will be the Des Wheeler Memorial Golf Day sponsored by Hawk Sportswear. The format will be a Four Ball Alliance with two scores to count and scrambled drive. All golfers are requested to make a concerted effort to play in both these special competitions.
