ANC Women’s League campaign in build-up to elections

The ANC Women’s League, Ukhahlamba region, hosted a series of events from Thursday, April 10, to Friday, April 11.

As part of the build-up to the elections, the events included door-to-door visits, a parade in Ladysmith, as well as a prayer. ANC Women’s League national president Mrs Angie Motshekga, who is also the Minister of Basic Education, was part of the programme.

On Thursday, the women’s league leadership (along with other members of the league) were at Sondoda Primary School, where the minister met with the principal and school governing body, parents and pupils. There were also some gifts from the women’s league and the Department of Education. A door-to-door campaign followed.

On Friday, the minister visited Lokothwayo Combined School, along with the ANC Women’s League, Ukhahlamba, as well as other members of parliament and the Department of Education’s DDG. There, the principal of the school told of the challenges the school faces. The minister said that the challenges would be seen to, and then officially handed over a Grade 1 class that was built at the school. A computer and other gifts were also given to the school.

From Lokothwayo Combined School, women’s league president Mrs Angie Motshekga, along with ANC Ukhahlamba leadership, led the Women’s League Parade from Engen Garage, proceeding down Murchison Street all the way to Settlers Park. At Settlers Park, there was an election prayer. The ANC Women’s League, Ukhahlamba, prayed for peaceful and fair elections.
