Office dog sadly departs

"She came to be an office dog by chance; we didn't choose her, she chose us. We are going to miss her so much"

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is sad to report that ‘Mamma’ was put down on Tuesday morning. Mamma was a black crossbreed who was over 15 years old and has been at the kennels for 10 years. She was dumped there with three puppies. The little puppies found new homes, but Mamma stayed on at the league. After the first flooding, Mamma moved into the office and has since been the resident office dog.

“Every morning she would greet us and keep us company in the office,” says kennels manager Frank Ackerman. When asked if they are planning to keep another office dog, they said no. “She was our only one and it’s too painful at this point in time. She came to be an office dog by chance; we didn’t choose her, she chose us. We are going to miss her so much,” commented Annamarie Koen from the league.

There are many sweet dogs who are in dire need of homes. There are currently two female Dachshund cross Fox Terrier puppies who are two months old and looking for good homes. There are also a pair of Spaniel crossbreeds in need a kind and loving family. Two spayed female Jack Russell crosses are in need of a new home, as their previous owner has moved into a flat and cannot keep them there. Please help these precious animals find a home where they can live a good life. If these darling dogs do not get adopted soon, they will have to be put down.

There have been some reports of missing dogs. These include two Labrador cross Dobermans, one black and one brown. A Jack Russell cross with long hair was found in Ruby Gailey Drive, and a Boerboel cross was found in Acaciavale. If these animals belong to you, please collect them.

Please also give the kennels a donation for looking after your animals. The AACL is happy to report that Nunu, the black Lab who went missing from Danskraal, is back home with her family.

Thanks this week go to George Newton, Spar and Pierre Massyn for their kind food donations.
