Ward Four councillor sworn in

He spoke at a full council meeting and said that the municipality lacked supervision and this has a negative impact on the councillors

The Councillor of Ward Four, Ugan Chetty was sworn in during a council meeting at the Umtshezi Municipality Council Chamber last week.
This follows the death of the ‘great thinker’, the former Mayor of Umtshezi who later became the African National Congress (ANC) Chief Whip in the local municipality, the late Councillor Dawood Vahed.
The ANC has retained Ward four successfully after the by-elections in April this year.
Mr Chetty took an oath to serve the people and committed himself to solve problems in his ward, for instance potholes, title deeds and other service delivery concerns.
He spoke at a full council meeting and said that the municipality lacked supervision and this has a negative impact on the councillors.
“The Central Business District is the face of the municipality, which is financial viable, as a result it should be kept clean.
We need to create a great impression of our town and serve the people with the dignity and respect they deserve”, said Mr Chetty.
On behalf of the council, the Mayor welcomed Cllr Chetty and introduced him to the Wembezi community during the Integrated Development Plan and budget road show.
