A treat for mothers

The day was set aside for education, remembrance and to honour mothers

Hypertension and Mother’s Day was on the agenda for the members of the Estcourt Senior Citizens Club when they held their weekly meeting last Wednesday.
The day was set aside for education, remembrance and to honour mothers.
Three special guests, Mrs Morar, Mrs Maharaj and Mrs Ghasitha were also invited.
The elderly folk were told that Hypertension Day was celebrated on May 17 and were reminded of keeping a regular monthly check on their blood pressure. The club’s Public Relations Officer Ramika Peerbhay advised members that apples, carrots and garlic would help lower blood pressure.
She also suggested that two chilli pips swallowed with water would decrease blood pressure.
“Do your breathing exercises in the morning and evening, this helps you relax,” she added.
A Mother’s Day poem was read out, which brought tears and emotion as mother’s who lost children were remembered.
The women were spoilt with free make-up and manicures by Neera. Thereafter the members enjoyed tea and eats sponsored by kind residents. All senior citizens will receive a discount at Jaishree’s Hair Salon on Mondays only.
