20-year-old murderer is sentenced to 15 years

Spurned lover Sizwe Vusumuzi Magubane shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in her home when he saw her with her new boyfriend.
He will now be serving 15 years imprisonment for murder after he was sentenced in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on April 17.
The 20-year-old from the Esigodlweni location in Rensburgdrift committed the crime on April 6 at about 11pm and fled the scene.
“A case of murder was reported at the Estcourt police station.
On April 8, Magubane was arrested and found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
He was charged for murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm,” commented police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane.
The accused made his first court appearance a day later on April 9 where the case was remanded to April 16 when he was convicted and sentenced.
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded Estcourt detectives for the swift arrest of the accused.
