Mission accomplished for FACE athletes

In the scorching heat and at time gusty winds, they toiled on the treacherous route of the very scenic ultra marathon

In what can be regarded as a precursor to the greatest marathon in the world, the Comrades Marathon, three Forderville Athletics Club athletes completed the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon in Cape Town on Saturday.
Sharmilla and Naveen Rajcoomar and Amri Sewnun ran stellar races even though the weather Gods did them no favours.
In the scorching heat and at time gusty winds, they toiled on the treacherous route of the very scenic ultra marathon.
Their task was made even more arduous at the top of Chapmans Peak when the water tables ran out of water and runners had to continue for several kilometres without hydrating themselves.
However, all ended well as all three runners crossed the finish line ahead of the seven-hour cut-off time. Congratulations runners and well wishes for the Comrades Marathon.
Results 56km
Sharmilla Rajcoomar 6.45.
Naveen Rajcoomar 6.54.
Amri Sewnun 6.59.
A hearty congrats goes to Nisha Sewnun who ran her tenth 21km Two Oceans Half Marathon and hence achieved her permanent blue number. Nisha achieved this feat by finishing in a time of 2.59.
Great going Nisha and maybe you should give the ultra marathon a try!
