N3 accident leaves two dead

Paramedics arrived on scene to find that tragically two people had died due to the collision and that there were eight more people who had been injured

On Sunday at about 8pm there was an accident on the N3 near the Giants Castle off ramp reportedly between a heavy goods vehicle and a minibus taxi.
Paramedics from the KZN Emergency Medical Services (EMS), together with local emergency services responded to the accident.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find that tragically two people had died due to the collision and that there were another eight people who had been injured in the accident, two whom were critically injured.
One person was also entrapped in one of the vehicles and the KZN EMS rescue medic had to use the “jaws of life”, which are specially designed hydraulic rescue tools used to cut and shear smashed particles of the vehicle, to free the patient from the damaged vehicle.
The paramedics treated the patients on scene, before they were transported to Estcourt Hospital for continued medical care.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
