With ward Four’s councillor elected (Ugan Chetty from the ANC) many residents here are doubtful whether the flurry of service delivery that occurred in the past weeks will continue.
Notable leaps in service delivery were noticed in the run up to the by-election.
Overgrown verges, illegally dumped rubbish and even patching of some potholes were attended to even the road rehabilitation project in Colita was restarted.
But it seems that most of these projects undertaken weeks back have seized, with Colita residents reporting that a child fell into a hole left by the contractor who had dug up and left the road.
During a recent council meeting, the Mayor remarked that he had noticed his sudden increase in service delivery and encouraged the municipality’s management to continue to reach their service delivery goals, not just during by-election periods.
