Water woes frustrate residents as virus crisis deepens

Power related issues to blame for Durnacol water outage

Dannhauser and Durnacol residents are fuming as the area continues to be plagued with water woes.

This morning, Durnacol residents woke up to empty taps, a sight that many say is not uncommon. No water, coupled with the fact that the area has been listed as a Covid-19 hotspot by the Premier, has got many fearing their safety.

Residents have questioned how they’re supposed to wash their hands without water.

Amajuba District were contacted for comment and noted that they were aware of the problem in Durnacol, adding that the reason for the water outage was power related.

Water woes have long been a problem in the towns. Constant burst pipes and sewage leaks are persistent and often go on unattended for months on end.
