Rotary makes a difference with ePap

"The Rotary Club of Dundee has had a six-year support relationship with Siphuthando Care Centre using funds provided from a club in Germany.

With the most vulnerable under threat as the Covid-19 crisis continues to bring the local economy to its knees, the Dundee Rotary Club has played its part in reaching out to the needy.

The club recently received 760kg of ePap worth thousands of rands from the Boikanyo Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Johannesburg founded by Marilyn Bassin.
This life-saving nutrition has been distributed by Rotary to the following organisations: Melusi, One Life and Presbyterian churches, Lockdown 2020 Aid and the Siphuthando Care Centre in Sibongile.

“Rotary is exceptionally grateful to the Boikanyo Foundation for this generous donation to our community,” said Rotarian Bev Garner.
ePap is a pre-cooked porridge that contains all the necessary nutrients and just needs to be mixed with water.
The amount received will go a long way to addressing nutritional deficiencies in our community, particularly among children and in child-headed households.

In addition, a box of toiletries was received – comprising hand sanitizers, gloves and soap – which was handed over to the Dundee Magistrate’s Court for use by child witnesses who testify in court.

“The Rotary Club of Dundee has had a six-year support relationship with Siphuthando Care Centre using funds provided from a club in Germany.

Mainly food is provided, but clothing and school uniforms, etc, are given as needed. Rotary is an international service organisation made up of a variety of volunteer members who have the same goal: service to others and to the environment using professional and personal skills. There are millions of Rotarians worldwide; Dundee High School has an InterAct Club and Dundee Junior is planning an EarlyAct Club,” concluded Bev.
