‘But are we all in this together?”

The story of 'we are all in this together' is not always true

Sir
The National Disaster Regulations, related to the Covid-19 crisis, has certainly brought out the best and the worst in people.
We have seen people running around sacrificing their own money, time and health to provide food for the desperate. We have seen people going the extra mile in all walks of life – employers making sure that their workers are paid regardless if they have been working or not during the shutdown.
Sadly, we have also seen the other side. People have been taking chances by taking food hampers that were not meant for them.
Some have also acted as if they are in need at the expense of those who are really vulnerable.
And then there are those employers have not played the game at all.
They have punished their workers twice by not paying them and not assisting them claim the UIF money due to them as per legislation. This comes after they were forced to stay at home through no fault of their own.
The story of ‘we are all in this together’ is not always true as many try and make it a one man show because of greed.
My only hope is that fairness will rule
Brian
