Case of murdered teen postponed again

Public Prosecutor Mr Hlophe confirmed to Magistrate Mazibuko that the DNA results proved that the deceased was Cebisile Buthelezi.

Murder accused, Bongumusa Mncube, briefly appeared in the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court today.

Those who filled the court gallery were still highly emotional after the burial of Cebisile Buthelezi (15) over the weekend. Mncube is accused of killing the teen, whose remains were discovered near Donald McHardy dam in November 2019.

Public Prosecutor, Mr Hlophe, confirmed to Magistrate Mazibuko that DNA results had proved the deceased was  Cebisile. The magistrate then postponed the case to March 9, pending further investigations including the tracing of cell phone activity.

A community member, who asked not to be named, said: “I can’t believe this case was postponed yet again… We as a community are still angry and we are losing hope in our justice system. Cebisile’s death shall not be in vain.”
