Municipality confirms fencing off of two parks
Residents living adjacent to the notorious Coronation and MacPhail Parks are chomping at the bit for Tuesday’s sod turning ceremony. That’s when the Municipality’s long awaited promised to fence off both parks finally becomes a reality.
Both parks have deteriorated into notorious party spots and have been the cause of outrage from residents. Wild parties, often accompanied by loud music, have seen the closure of at least one B and B on McKenzie Street.
Residents say the by-laws prohibit drinking in public and other associated public disturbance laws are ignored and are no longer policed.
Ward 2 Councillor, Thulani Mahaye, recently ventilated his disgust for a so-called pens down party attended by school leavers at MacPhail Park.
Those living near Coronation Park say they hope the fencing off will finally bring closure on the saga that has seen tempers fray as parties continue virtually non-stop over weekends.
