Just what is in the water?

Images submitted by residents depict brown, dirty water allegedly coming out of the taps.

Water woes have long been a problem for residents of Dannhauser and Durnacol. But recently, there has not been much water to complain about.

Residents of Durnacol have not had water for the past three days and once supply did return, residents complained of only muddy deposits exiting the taps. Some parts of Dannhauser have also suffered due to water cuts and have also reported having dirty water once it returned.

The municipality said it was ‘in the process of rectifying the matter’. The Amajuba District Municipality has, in responding to the reporteded problems, requested that residents boil their water before consumption.

“Amajuba DM monitors water quality on a regular basis and has discovered a slight water quality problem in Durnacol main water pipeline due to a low reservoir level after load [shedding],” read a notice.
