Toddler still missing after a month

''We and the community looked everywhere, with no luck or signs of where the child might be'' say the child's distraught family

A Weenen toddler is still missing after almost a month. Two-year-old Lulandwe Kamvelihle Qwabe was last seen on September 21 in the Gomba area. She was with her grandmother while the mother was at work. When the mother arrived home, everyone suddenly noticed that the child was nowhere to be seen. The family searched everywhere and the community also intervened, but to no avail.

According to police, the toddler was last seen wearing a T-shirt, pink and blue striped leggings, and a pair of dusty pink Crocs at the time of her disappearance.

Speaking to the Estcourt News, a member of the Qwabe family said they have stopped searching. “We don’t know about the police, because they have not given us any updates.”

The family also say that a suspect was taken in for questioning but since then, they have not heard anything more about the suspect, which concerns them.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan has confirmed that the child is still missing and Colenso SAPS investigations are continuing.

Khan pleads with anyone who has information regarding this case to please come forward and contact Sergeant Dube on 082 462 9413 or 036 422 2222
