Local lass needs your votes to win Miss World South Africa

Her voting code is MWSA192. SMS this code to 40113

Amanda Nsibande (23) has made it into the quarter finals of the Miss World South Africa 2023 pageant.
Born and bred in the eMadoshini area of Vryheid, Amanda was selected from among 2000 hopefuls to take part in the pageant. She auditioned for Miss World South Africa 2023 via her cellphone. “I came across a post on Instagram where I was required to send videos and pictures. I was surprised that I was selected, but also very excited.

Amanda attended Lakeside Park Primary School before going on to Vryheid High School. She recently graduated from Varsity College, where she was studying Law.
She recalls that beauty pageants were ‘not her thing’ when she was growing up. However, after winning Miss Mayfair in 2017, she fell in love with modelling. “Bianca Mavuso is actually the one who inspired me to take part in pageants. In 2018, I entered Miss Teen South Africa and was first princess. From then on, I was assured that I can do this.”

Hailing from a family of nine, Amanda says she had to prove herself to her family, as they did not understand pageants at all. “When I started winning, my family gave me all their support, as they had previously regarded modelling as a hobby.” Amanda adds that she encountered bullying when she was growing up. “At primary school, children would make fun of how tall I was and that would upset me. I remember one day when they made fun of my height, I went to my teacher and told him about it. My teacher taught me a lesson I will never forget… He said, ‘The only reason they are teasing you is because you have something they don’t have. They also want to be tall like you; they want your height because you can do so many things when you are tall.’ From that day, I never cried when someone made fun of my height; instead, I would laugh.”

Amanda concluded by saying, “I have tried to enter this pageant so many times. I had to be rejected in order to get this far, so failure is not always the end.”
Amanda is now pleading with the community at large to vote for her so that she can bring the crown home. Her voting code is MWSA192. SMS this code to 40113. She is amand_a4317 on Instagram and zethembiso Amanda on Facebook.
