Marking Mandela Day with the gift of water

Water shortages are a thing of the past, thanks to the Gift of the Givers

Water is an essential source of life as well as a basic human right and the Gift of the Givers Foundation recognises the need for a clean and consistent water supply in areas that have been experiencing a lack thereof.

To mark Mandela Day, the foundation’s Estcourt branch together with sponsor South 32 handed over three boreholes today (July 18).

Celukuphiwe Combined School fraternity welcome the donation of a borehole.

The first stop was at Celukuphiwe Combined School where the staff and learners welcomed the generous donation of the borehole that would serve them well.

Thereafter the team went to Estcourt Provincial Hospital.

The hospital was one of the essential institutions that were being affected by the frequent and prolonged water interruptions that have plagued the Estcourt community.

Patient care was compromised, but this is a thing of the past.

The hospital now has a reliable source of water to continue in their mission to “respect human life and treat people with dignity”, as said by CEO Nthandazo Bekenya.

No more water shortages for the Rensburgdrift community.

In Rensburgdrift, the community was grateful for the borehole after also being affected by the water cuts.

Residents now have access to a stable supply of water, thanks to the Gift of the Givers and its sponsors.
