Heavy rain and hail hits Ladysmith

Rain is expected throughout the weekend, so stay indoors

Ladysmith residents woke up to dark, overcast skies this morning (May 19) and then came the downpour. Rain hammered down, accompanied by hail in some areas. The storm left streets in residential areas and the CBD covered in a light ‘sprinkle’ of hail.

“The hailstones were tiny, which is a good thing,” said a resident who was afraid that his vehicle would be damaged.

The hail on the ground.

The storm was short-lived though and was soon replaced by rainbows in the sky.

The weather forecast for today is a minimum of 3 degrees and a chilly maximum of only 14 degrees, so keep warm wherever you are. Tomorrow is expected to be partly cloudy with a low of 4 degrees and a high of 18.
