Family loses everything in house fire

The fire is alleged to have started when the electricity came back after load-shedding on Friday night

The Ngobese family, who live in the Etiyeleni area of Roosboom (Ward 11), lost everything in a house fire on Friday night (May 12).

Cllr Sabelo Sithole visited the family yesterday (May 16) to donate blankets, cutlery and other items.

It is alleged that the fire started when the electricity came back after load-shedding.

This is a family of two sisters and their children. One child is at school and they were left with what they were wearing at the time, as they could not save a thing from the burning house.

According to Cllr Sithole, all the family’s worldly possessions went up in flames.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“The family has been offered temporary shelter by Good Samaritans. We appeal to anyone who is able to assist in any way, especially with the building of new shelter, since no one is employed in this family,” said Sithole.
