James Kampte wins Estcourt Open

James Kampte beat off the competition to become the 2023 Estcourt Open champion

The Pick n Pay Estcourt Open weekend was held from Friday (April 28) to Sunday (April 30).

Here are the results:

Friday four-ball alliance: First were R Smith, D Diedrick, C Tratschler and M Hodgson on 91 points. Second were E Mageza, S Mtetwa, S Venter and J Venter on 86 points.

Third were I Marx, L Hepker, D Meyer and Wood on 83 points. Fourth were D Ramdhav, M Gillitt, H Koovarjee and G Reynders on an 80-point count-out. Closest to the pin on no. 12 was D Ramdhav.

Closest to the pin on no. 1 was H Hlongwane. Two-clubs went to G Reynders on no. 3 and C Fourie on no. 3.

Saturday better-ball: First were E Mageza and S Mtetwa on 43 points. Second were E Richmond and N Mabaso on 42 points. Third were D Meyer and S Venter on 41 points. Fourth were C Piagesti and O Mcluckie on 40 points.

Fifth were W Sibiya and Z Ntshangase on 39 points. Sixth were Grant and Colin on 38 points. Closest to the pin on no. 3 was L Laatz. Closest to the pin on no. 16 was H Koovarjee, who also had a two-club on no. 16.

Sunday Estcourt Open: A Division: first – J Kampte (138 gross), second – R Mcbey (144 gross), third – T Liversey (146 gross) and fourth – N Adams (148 gross). B Division: fi rst – S Mothilal (169 gross), second – D Ramdhav (171 gross count-out) and third – S Sewsunker (171 gross count[1]out).

Overall best nett was L Mlotshwa on 143. A big congratulations to the 2023 Estcourt Open champion, James Kampte, and a very big thank you to all the golfers who supported the weekend.
