ANC march against return of ‘sex-for-jobs’ councillor

Kandahar Avenue, Murchison Street and Lyell Street are expected to be affected by the march

Traffic is expected to be disrupted on many roads today (April 20), as the ANC is set to march against the return of the ‘sex-for-jobs’ councillor.

Alfred Duma Mayor Zama Sibisi went on record supporting Cllr Abbas Warasally, who according to him had returned to work and should be welcomed by those in Ward 20. Warasally was seen attending the IFP march yesterday.

Roads expected to be affected include Kandahar Avenue, Lyell Street and Murchison Street.

The march is set to start at 10 this morning from the Kandahar Avenue sports field.

Other grievances include lack or shortage of water, maladministration, sewage spills, unfair labour practices and gender-based violence.

This march comes a day after IFP members marched yesterday, demanding that the Department of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) stop interfering in uThukela’s administration. The IFP also wants CoGTA to immediately remove the ministerial representative (administrator) and for SAMWU members to be removed from the labour forum.

Leading today’s march will be provincial secretary of the ANC, Bheki Mtolo.
