Scouts undergo intensive training

Scouts from across KZN gathered in Estcourt to learn and train

A weekend packed with activities and learning was in store for the Scouts who attended a Warrant Course.

Trainers from all over KwaZulu-Natal facilitated the course, which was held at Estcourt High School from March 24 to 26.

After registration on Friday, the Scouts were educated about their founder, Baden Powell, as well as the different signs (and their meanings) used among Scouts. The importance of the Scout Laws was emphasised, and the session concluded with a prayer.

Saturday morning began with a hearty breakfast and prayer before the Scout flag was hoisted. The day was spent learning about knots and the importance of a balanced diet.

Later in the day, the Girl Guides joined in and were impressed by the trained Scouts. The line from the song ‘In times of sadness, in times of trouble, you must remember the Scout’s Laws’ was still ringing in everybody’s ears on Sunday as breakfast and clean-up wrapped up the training.

All the Scouts were keen on going back to their communities and starting vibrant Scout units at their respective schools.
