Urvashini is at the top of the class for 2022

Urvashini achieved seven distinctions in the NSC exams

Urvashini is Estcourt’s top performing matric learner, who also came third in the entire Uthukela District.

As a learner at Drakensberg Secondary School, she achieved no less than seven distinctions in English, Mathematics, Afrikaans, Life Orientation, Physics, Life Science and Geography. Her outstanding results resulted in an invite to the prestigious Provincial Matric Awards ceremony held in Durban on Friday (January 20).

This was undoubtedly the best present the young lass could have asked for, as she celebrated her 18th birthday on that day. At the awards ceremony, she rubbed shoulders with KZN’s academic elite from the class of 2023.

“The awards ceremony simultaneously amazed, inspired and humbled me. I was amazed by the magnitude of my own achievement, and in awe of the achievements of the other students. It was also very inspiring to see children from various backgrounds excel, despite their situations. And lastly, I was humbled having seen the excellence in others. This made me realise there is always more to achieve and that there is still room for growth,” said Urvashini.

With a childhood dream of being a doctor, Urvashini will be studying Medicine at the University of Cape Town.
