The sessions were co-ordinated by the Youth Office of uThukela District Municipality and facilitated by the NHBRC. The purpose was to equip youth contractors interested in housing construction with skills and knowledge.

Upon completion of the short course, contractors receive certificates which will allow them to register with the Home Builders Council. On the third day, various stakeholders that included Economic Development & Environmental Affairs, the Small Enterprise Development Agency and National Youth Development Agency gave presentations on opportunities and funding available for the youth in the business sector.
