‘Community in Blue’ now in Ladysmith…

Going on patrol and helping the police to fight crime in the area

The ‘Community in Blue’ programme was officially launched in the Ladysmith area last week.

Officers from the Ladysmith Visible Policing Unit, as well as Ladysmith SAPS sector commanders, joined hands with the Ladysmith branch of the Community Policing Forum (CPF), Department of Co-Operative Governance & Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) and the Al-Imdaad Foundation to officially launch the programme.

An induction session took place at the Thusong Centre in Roosboom.

During the induction, ‘Community in Blue’ patrollers were educated about the role played by the sector commanders and how this influences patrols. They also learnt about safety precautions and the ‘Community in Blue’ patroller’s Code of Conduct.

The training was conducted by Ladysmith CPF chairperson Dr MSM Mazibuko, Captain R Ramlutchman and Warrant Officer MS Radebe.
