Proud moment for private healthcare

It is expected that the hospital will be complete by October 2023

A sod-turning ceremony was held at the site of UMtshezi Private Hospital on October 31. The private hospital will be built along Ntabamhlophe road (next to the water works plant).

Guests and stakeholders were part of the ceremony, with Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Myeza and councillors invited to participate in the soil-turning. UMtshezi Private Hospital is developed through the partnership between Ndlomzintu Trading and RH Managers, with funding that has been secured from the Development Bank of South Africa.

The total development cost of the hospital is R190 million, which will create 125 permanent job opportunities and 100s of temporary jobs during the construction phase. The hospital will include 111 beds and three theatres, and is expected to open for patients in October next year. Doctors and specialists who will render their services are currently being secured.

In his speech during the sod-turning ceremony and walkabout, Myeza said, “This development is an initiative of which, as this council, we are very proud. We are proud because it is not only going to bring access to medical healthcare closer to our people, but it is also going to create a minimum of 125 permanent job opportunities and temporary jobs for our communities. We thank all the partners who have worked tirelessly since 2008 on this project to ensure that it becomes a success. We are very confident that the project will progress well without any challenges that will hinder its progress.”

The local municipality has supported the private hospital by expediting the process of approving plans, and has helped the developers to ensure that they are compliant with all necessary by-laws. The municipality has also committed to constructing the access road to the hospital and ensuring general security of the property.
