Department of Transport offices robbed in Bergville

Swift response by police resulted in one of the stolen vehicles being recovered in the Balfour area

The Department of Transport offices in Bergville were robbed on Tuesday morning (October 4).

Security guards were held up by a group of men, who then forcefully gained entry into the premises.

The suspects stole equipment, power tools and diesel, as well as the keys to two bakkies. The stolen items were loaded onto the two bakkies and the robbers then fled the scene.

The incident was reported to Bergville police.

One of the stolen vehicles was tracked to the Balfour area, where Balfour SAPS were informed.
