Suspected murderer faces firearm charges
The man faces charges of murder and possession of an illegal firearm
A 42-year-old man is facing charges of murder and possession of an illegal firearm.
He was arrested by a team of law enforcement officers during a late-night operation in the Ngoba area of Upper Tugela.
“He was found in possession of an unlicensed revolver with 19 rounds of ammunition,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.
The man made a brief appearance in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court last week.
Officers from the Uthukela District Crime Intelligence Unit, Ladysmith Visible Policing officers, Upper Tugela Visible Policing officers, Upper Tugela detectives, as well as members of the South African National Defence Force were involved in the operation.
