Municipality calls for harsher punishment

Tavern owners are requested to keep their places of business safe

Alfred Duma Local Municipality has called for ‘harsher punishment’ following the tragic shooting that took place at a tavern in Peacetown on Saturday night (August 6).

”As the municipality, we are deeply shocked and saddened to learn about this evil act of cruelty where members of our community were robbed of their lives unexpectedly. It is alleged that this massacre claimed two lives and left others injured.

“We therefore urge law enforcement to take its course by leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that harsher punishment is served on these tavern-shooting culprits.

“We, as a municipality, wish to urge the public to co-operate with the police in reporting information that will lead to the arrest of criminals.”
