Okhahlamba mayor escapes shooting
One of the mayor's bodyguards was wounded and rushed to hospital
Okhahlamba Local Municipality Mayor Vikizitha Mlotshwa narrowly escaped death after being shot at on Sunday evening (July 31).
It is alleged that the shooting happened along the R600 road and that three hit-men attempted to take the mayor’s life.

It is further alleged that there was a shoot-out between the three hit-men and the mayor’s bodyguards.
The three gunmen were apprehended, as they were all wounded. One of the bodyguards also suffered a gunshot wound and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The mayor was not shot and was uninjured after the ambush attack.
