Proactive locals take to the street

The group is committed to improving safety for residents in Third Avenue

The residents of Third Avenue in Forderville have come together in a show of community effort and have established a neighbourhood watch called the Third Avenue Action Group (TAAG).

This committee has a comprehensive constitution and code of conduct, and is in the process of being registered as a non-profit organisation.

TAAG is committed to working closely with the police and all relevant authorities.

“TAAG’s vision and aim is to make Third Avenue a safe environment for its residents by patrolling the area daily and improving the aesthetics of our street. The members are having all potholes in Third Avenue repaired by themselves, at their own cost. TAAG has personally undertaken the responsibility to clear all dump sites in the street and have the grass on the pavements cut. TAAG is also committed to prevent all illegal dumping and is adamant to take on the culprits, to the extent of charging them criminally,” explained vice-chairperson Pramesh Gobinpersad.

Additionally, the group is in the process of installing their very own CCTV system that they purchased, which will allow 24-hour surveillance of Third Avenue.

“TAAG also hopes that the other streets will follow suit in making our community safe and beautiful,” concluded Mr Gobinpersad.
