Men busted with stolen copper cable

Bolt cutters and other tools were also found in their possession

Five men will make their first appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court soon after being busted with suspected stolen copper cable in their possession.

The men, aged between 18 and 41, were arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning (May 10). They were caught red-handed by officers from Elandslaagte SAPS, the Ladysmith Visible Policing Unit, a local security company and the lead investigator from Transnet.

In addition to the copper cable, the officers also found bolt cutters and other tools in their possession.

The incident took place in the Pepworth area.

The five suspects face charges of theft, damage to essential infrastructure, and possession of suspected stolen property.
