The programme comes after the town’s deteriorating roads were inspected by the mayor and his team.

During the launch on April 26, it was revealed that road rehabilitation and pothole repairs will cover the CBD and even extend to areas outside the CBD.

Speaking to the staff who will be responsible for the road repairs, Myeza urged them to work hard.

“Pothole repairs need to be carried out with determination,” he said, adding that officials must expedite the work and also ensure that potholes do not reappear in the same places where repairs have been carried out, as this will undermine the repair work.

He said that the quality of work will need to be high.

Municipal staff can also be seen doing road repairs in Canna Avenue.

Municipal teams began the Town Rehabilitation Programme with road repairs in Victoria Street and the extensively damaged Canna Avenue last week.

According to the planned road repairs for May, areas in Forderville, Brewitt Park, Colita, Papkuilsfontein and Khwezi will be serviced.
