Speakers outlined the successes achieved in prevention and control

Alfred Duma Local Municipality held a TB awareness campaign in Umhlumayo on Tuesday (March 22).

Together with Operation Sukuma Sakhe, the tuberculosis (TB) awareness campaign took place in Ward 28.

The visit commemorated World TB Day, which aims to educate the public about the impact of the disease.

Cllr Majola and the leadership of the Mabaso Traditional Council warmly welcomed the stakeholders.

There were also guest speakers who spoke about the successes achieved in TB prevention and control. However, they also raised awareness of the challenges faced in trying to stamp out the disease.

Additionally, child-headed households were identified as part of the outreach activities. They were helped with grocery hampers, blankets, sponges and sanitary towels.

The rural community requested more programmes of this nature to help prevent cases of TB.
